Lana ~ Inspiring Strength

After the butterball turkey and delectable desserts have been consumed a good portion of us turn to our New Years resolution in hopes of fitting into that new little black dress or polka dot bikini.  With this being said, we thought the following photo shoot we did with Lana Taylor would make for an inspirational blog post.
Lana is a mental health professional, a wife and a mom to an eight year old boy.  She has been strength training for over 15 years and has incorporated the gym into her everyday life. “It is something I look forward to each day and get very disappointed if something gets in its way” says Taylor.
In the last 5-6 years Lana had increased the intensity of her work outs and upon approaching her 40th birthday she realized that she was now in better shape than she was in her 20’s!  Feeling that a photoshoot would be an interesting way to record her progress and for motivation as she works towards future goals, Lana contacted us.  “I thought of Johanna immediately because of the quality of her work, her enthusiasm and engaging personality.  I also knew that I would feel comfortable with her in doing this kind of shoot.”
It was impressive to witness what Lana is capable of as a 40 year old woman and we are honoured to have been there to capture her progress.  We can’t wait to see what she is doing at 50!

Lesley and Brian ~ Engagement Photos

Engagement photos are such a joy to take.  We encourage our wedding clients to have their engagement photos taken with us so we all can get to know each other and a bit of what to expect on their big day without all the pressure.  Leslie and Brian are no exception.  They live out west but will be getting married here next year and I am honoured to be their photographer.  We squeezed in this lovely engagement session when they were in town last summer and it turned out spectacular!  I am looking forward to what the big day will bring.

Eliza and Logan ~ Wedding Photos at Sunset

It was so much fun to photograph this beautiful couple a few weeks after their wedding this fall.  Planning a post wedding session is a great way to not have to worry about the weather, travel on the big day, and try something a bit different.  Here are some images from our session for you to enjoy.  Thanks so much Eliza and Logan!

Joan Cochrane - Johanna I absolutely love your work. I was blessed to be a part of this photo session. I know Logan and Eliza were so pleased with their photos. Those photos taken with the sky in so many colors was a “moment” for a photographer and the bride and groom!!! You took full advantage of this moment and created “art”.

Jonathan and Samantha ~ December 29, 2013

Winter weddings are something I really enjoy, and this one did not disappoint!  The weather cooperated to give us a pretty backdrop for this sweet and simple winter wedding.  Jonathan and Samantha – it was an honour to be your photographer!  Thank-you for sharing your special day with me, I hope you enjoy this sneak peek.

Scott and Sharla ~ Autumn Wedding

If I could sum this day up in one word it would have to be FUN!  Scott and Sharla are such a fun loving couple that it is hard to imagine their wedding day being anything but.  It was a beautiful yet crisp fall day in downtown New Glasgow and the trees were at the height of colour.  After a heartfelt ceremony the happy couple suggested we utilize the waterfront parks and pathways that they run through often, as a back drop for their photos.  The old willow trees were dripping with blood red Virginia creepers – the perfect accent for the bridal party’s bouquets of red gerbera daisies.  After laughing our way through the shoot, Scott and Sharla invited everyone for a beverage at one of their favourite local watering holes – The Dock Food Spirits & Ales Restaurant in Downtown New Glasgow.  The authentic stone restaurant was just the thing to warm everyone up as the bride and groom were able to relax and socialize with friends and family.  The old buildings in New Glasgow are so full of character, I just had to get the newly weds outside for one last shot.  They are such a genuine couple that it was easy to capture the love they have for each other.  Thank you Scott and Sharla for sharing your day with us, it was a pleasure to be your photographers.  ~ Johanna and Shannon
